Lawrences Garages London Ltd was founded by Arthur George Lawrence in 1920. Opening a petrol station was a big gamble back then as the petrol pump had only just been invented, but its early success has led to 5 generations of Lawrence’s running forecourt garages. 2020 saw Lawrences Garages London Ltd celebrate its 100th year as a company.

Lawrences Garages were one of the first companies to sell fuel in London and started selling fuel in 45-gallon drums.

The first tanker was delivered in 1921, and in the next few decades the company accumulated 12 licensed sites, some of which were in Surrey and Kent.

After Shell started taking license sites back in the early 90’s Lawrences bought their first sites in Norfolk in 1995, which increased to five by 2008.

In 2013 the company sold its last site in Clapham, London and leased out two sites in Norfolk to Applegreen. 

Today LGL Group currently own five sites of which three are operated by the company.
